About Florida Food Service

Florida Food Service has been a family owned company since its origination in 1948. Although the generations have changed, it is still family owned and operated. In 1975, Jim Islam became a partner and president of Florida Food Service, Inc. Jim has three sons and one son-in-law that are employed in different capacities within the company. January of 2004, Jim’s son Joel became president of the company.

We take pride in the fact that all of our upper level managers have been with the company for more than 20 years. Our 90 employees boast an average of 15 years service amongst them. Employees that help the local economy grow. We believe that our future depends on the family that we have built at Florida Food Service.

In January of 1998 we moved into our new distribution center located in the Gainesville Airport Industrial Park at 5201 NE 40th Terrace. Our state of the art 40,000 square foot distribution center speaks of our commitment to the future. We currently warehouse over 5000 food service products from reliable manufacturers including frozen, refrigerated, produce, dairy, fresh seafood, fresh meats, fresh poultry and dry goods, as well as equipment and supplies.

It is now a familiar sight to see our trucks on Florida highways North to Jacksonville and South Georgia, South

to Miami, East to St. Augustine and West to the Tallahassee area.
